Playa Ocotal is located at the end of a winding road just 3 Km southwest of Playas del Coco. The beach is small and enchanting, framed with high dramatic hills. The volcanic sand is dark, almost black in areas and is fine and soft to the touch. Vast trees create cool shade over a good portion of the sand and make this a popular beach for picnicking.

The hills are peppered with striking villas and private homes that look out across the open ocean. There is a resort here, a few hotels, and a casual restaurant right on the beach. Bahia Pez Vela is the next cove to the southwest and is even more secluded. Large rental condos and a lovely restaurant are the only two things that call Bahia Pez Vela home. Playa Ocotal and Bahia Pez Vela offer a quiet get away, but are close enough to get to the action in minutes.
