The Gulf of Papagayo, in the providence of Guanacaste, Costa Rica is plentiful of fish and is world-renowned for its biodiversity. Sport fishing lovers from all around the world have come and fished the Papagayo Gulf but you do not need to be a professional angler to enjoy a great day on the water.
Many types of fish migrate through the gulf: marlin (Blue, Black & striped), Sail, Dorado, Yellow Fin, Rooster, Wahoo and Jacks are just a few.
The bottom fishing is amazing as well -- Grouper, Cubera Snapper, are some of the fish that can also be caught.
Catch and released is practiced for Sail, Marlin and Roosterfish. Tuna, dorado, Wahoo, and snapper are great to bring back to your hotel for a fresh cooked seafood meal.
Airlines allow for fish to be transported to the US and Canada. Most customers bring their own coolers to transport their catch back. There is no need to worry about the fish defrosting during flight if it is stored under the plane. To be safe, be sure to check with your airlines in case rules have changed.
North Pacific Tours offers sportfishing charters, surf trips, and snorkeling. Mau and Lisa are a husband and wife team that offer personalized and professional service to guests staying anywhere in the Papagayo area.
