 Papagayo Tours: The Papagayo area is close to many tour options. It is highly recommended to take advantage of the sights close to the beaches. If you do want to visit Arenal or Monteverde then make it an overnight trip.

Transportation: There a few different choices when it comes to transportation. The adventurous person can rent a car which will give you more freedom but can be quite costly (high gas prices and insurance) and frustrating (not many road signs). Taking local red taxis is another choice. These cabs are lower in price, but the driver will most likely speak Spanish only and might not use the A/C. The final option is to hire a shared shuttle or private van (microbus) which provide more roomy and comfortable travel with professional drivers.
