Costa Rica is a country in Central America bordered by Nicaragua to the North and Panama to the South. The population is about 4.43 million and the area is 51,100 square kilometers or 19,730 square miles (about the size of West Virginia).
As one of the most stable countries in Latin America; it focuses on peace, education, and medicine. The abolition of the military allowed more funds to go to schooling and healthcare. It is a country that is becoming more and more popular as a tourist and retirement destination, especially the costal communities.

The slower pace and charming way of life appeals to those who come from big cities where they are lost in the shuffle. But nothing comes easy. Moving to Costa Rica takes a lot of patience. Getting things done takes much longer, and the systems used may be behind what people are used to. However, one thing is certain; Costa Ricans are warm and inviting people who put family and friends first in their lives. Everyone should be so lucky to experience the “pura vida” that Costa Rica is so famous for.
